Dental Bonding

Dental bonding is a procedure in which tooth-colored resin material is applied and hardened to the tooth surface.
Dental bonding can be used for the following:
- Repair decayed tooth structure
- Repair chipped or cracked teeth
- Improve appearance of discolored teeth
- Close spaces between teeth
- Protect a portion of the tooth’s root that has been exposed when the gum recedes

Dental Bonding FAQ

What are the advantages of bonding?

Dental bonding is among the least expensive of cosmetic dental procedures.

What are the disadvantages of bonding?

- Dental bonding does not resist stains as well as crowns or porcelain veneers.
- The bonding materials do not last as long, nor are as strong as other procedures (e.g. crowns).
- Bonding materials can chip and break off of the tooth.
- Because of some limitations, dental bonding is viewed to be best suited for small cosmetic changes, for
temporary correction of cosmetic defects, and for correction of teeth in areas of very low bite pressure.
