In addition, Lisa Gundlachs daughter, who is an intern with Special Olympics Wisconsin, was there to serve as a coordinator for the athletes who were there receiving care.

Robin Koch who was working with the Special Olympic athletes providing teeth cleaning remarked “what a great opportunity it was to get to know these special athletes who had come from all over the state to get dental care.”

The Madison Family Dental team cared for over 60 patients at the 2 day event. The team worked Friday afternoon and then began seeing patients at the very early hour of 5:30am on Saturday morning and then worked all day.

” It was two long days but the smiles on the patients faces after receiving much needed dental care made it very rewarding.” Valerie added.

Bessie who joined the team for her first Mission of Mercy was amazed by the event.

“The time, effort and coordination to build a temporary dental clinic to serve 2000 patients over a weekend was incredible. It was such a great experience for me.” -Bessie
