Girls on the Run is a life-changing, non-profit program for girls in the 3rd through 8th grade. Their mission is to inspire girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running.
What Is Girls on the Run?
Girls on the Run is a recreational program that helps young girls of various ages train for running events by implementing as much activity and movement as possible, such as jogging, skipping, running and basic warm-ups as well as using team building exercises and life skills. This interactive after-school program also addresses different aspects and difficulties of a girl’s life and teaches them how to successfully handle these situations in a healthy way.
Established in 1996, Girls on the Run helps young girls embrace their individuality and learn important skills to help them grow with the help of volunteers in over 200 cities across North America.
Your Madison Dentist supports Girls on the Run. We supported the 3rd Annual Spring Race on June 7th at McKee Farms Park in Fitchburg. Dr. Alanna Wirtz and her daughter, Sophia ran the 5K as a mother/daughter team.
Dr. Wirtz and Sophia ran together in the November 2014 event and they continue their training and participation for the Spring 2015 race as well.
It is such an empowering experience for young girls. It is a great pleasure to be a sponsor and a participant in this great initiative for girls. ~Dr. Wirtz
