Myth: “I heard brushing my teeth after every meal is imperative and the most important way to prevent tooth decay. Is this true?” – Kim from Madison

Dr. Shannon Rea: “Well, thoroughly brushing your teeth and flossing every day, and after meals and at morning & night is definitely the best way to help prevent tooth decay, but there are definitely many other factors, like making sure you have a diet that is low in sugar and acids, as well as using a fluoride aided toothpaste and making sure that you maintain frequent dental check-ups and cleanings in order to prevent tooth decay.”
