Ways Of Keeping Your Gums Strong And HealthyTo have a beautiful healthy smile your gums need to be healthy too. The gums hold the teeth together and you will bring an attractive appearance. To keep your gums healthy, you need to maintain a healthy diet and avoid some habits like smoking and drinking too much. Regular dental visits will give you more information on how your gums will remain healthy.

Avoid smoking

Smoking is a habit that causes your gums to be weak. The smoke forms tartar that deposits in between your teeth. The tartar also causes discoloration of the teeth and that bring the smile becomes dull. Plaque also forms easily and the bacteria cause tooth decay and which can lead to tooth loss.

Rinse with salty water

Salty water treats gum inflammation and soothes the gum. The salty water kills bacteria found inside the mouth and also cures the sores in the mouth. Rinsing the mouth with salty water twice daily can end any gingivitis forming, reduces inflammation, and soothes the gum. Salty water has antiseptic value and will kill the bad bacteria found in your mouth.

Diet and gums

The diet that your intake plays a major role in the maintenance of healthy gums. Eating sugary foods will cause trouble to your teeth, sugar causes tooth decay and can lead to dental caries, and finally periodontal gum disease. Acidic foods are also a major cause of unhealthy gums, the acid in these foods causes erosion of the tooth enamel and when the enamel is exposed you develop dental caries and tooth decay. Our dentist will help you identify better ways to maintain healthy gums and will offer the best treatment options if you have any gum disease.
