What are Some of the Common Dental Problems?Your mouth plays an essential role in your life. You use it to eat, talk, and wide range of other vital functions. Taking good care of your mouth is critical for your oral health. You are required to clean your mouth thoroughly by brushing and flossing regularly. Failure to do so, you risk a wide range of dental problems. Some of the common dental problems include:

Tooth Decay

Tooth decay is a widespread dental problem. It is characterized by a throbbing toothache that can be pretty uncomfortable. Several factors cause tooth decay. However, the presence of bacteria is believed to be the leading cause of this condition. If you don't clean your mouth correctly, bacteria will accumulate on your teeth and cause infections. If you don't seek medical attention, this condition could develop into severe tooth decay. Some cases of tooth decay result in tooth loss. This is why you should come in for checks immediately you notice signs of tooth decay.

Gum Disease

This is another common dental problem. Gum disease is caused by harmful bacteria present in your mouth. If you don't clean your mouth, plaque will start building up on your gums and cause gum disease. Some signs of gum disease are bleeding when brushing, swollen gums, and gum recession. This condition can advance to periodontitis if left untreated. However, if caught early, gum disease can be reversed.

Tooth Sensitivity

You are likely to experience tooth sensitivity no matter good you take care of your oral health. While some cases of sensitivity are typical, others are a sign of an underlying oral problem. The exposed tooth root mainly causes tooth sensitivity. If you expose your teeth to hot or cold temperatures, you will experience sharp pain. Tooth sensitivity can also be caused by teeth grinding.
