What Causes Sinus Pressure or Toothache?

Posted on 6/6/2022 by Evan
What Causes Sinus Pressure or Toothache?Sinuses are the spaces that link the nasal cavity and the skull. The sinus pressure or toothache is caused by the tissue in these places being inflamed. The inflammation of these tissues often causes pain and discomfort. Some sinuses can be located very close to teeth roots than others. If you feel any discomfort in your sinuses consult our dental team for a further checkup.

Sinus Pressure

Sinuses are spaces filled with air that is found in the nasal cavity. Their work is to moisten warm and filter the air in the cavity. They also produce mucus in the cavity that helps clean the nose. In the instance that the sinuses are blocked or filled with fluid they may get infections. Infections lead to congestion and pressure builds up. This leads to much discomfort and a lot of pain in the upper teeth. This is because the roots of your upper jaw bone are very close to the sinuses. The pain sometimes spreads to the lower teeth if not managed in time.

Regular Tooth aches

Sinus toothaches have many similar symptoms to regular toothaches. The main difference is that sinus toothaches are felt in the upper molar region and affect several teeth. Regular toothaches usually affect the tooth affected and can be all around the mouth. Sinus toothaches have symptoms such as fever. They also experience intensified pains due to movements such as bending or jumping up and down. The pain shifts as these movements are made. Toothache pains are more focused and intensified on a certain tooth.

Offering care

The sinus toothaches cause a lot of discomfort and pain. Some home remedies such as staying hydrated and keeping oral health may be helpful. If the pain persists visit our dental team for oral care.
