The varnish will need time to absorb into the enamel, so try to avoid brushing or anything else that will disrupt the absorption. Even sensitive teeth and gums should feel nothing, and while there is a slight taste to it, many kids report that they enjoy it. You might observe a slight degree of yellowing or stickiness, but this is normal and will go away. Your child should avoid eating and drinking for a few hours after the fluoride is applied.
